Re: phrase

GÇ£One must live as if it would be for ever, and as if each moment might be the lastGÇ¥... well, isn't it how Atg lived, or how we "know" he did? He was convinced to be invincible, so he never spared his life or energy for "tomorrow". Also, this phrase sounds like some of those n...

Re: QURAN=KURAN=KOREN=ROOTH....

Hi Dr. Vasko,
I must confess that I'm slightly confused about what you've written. I presume that you meant to show us some connection but, as we all know, we can find many such connections in many different languages, right?
In that case, well, where is the logic?

Re: Alexander and Indian Culture.

Hi Dean,I'm also trying to discover the real links between Alexander the Great and the ancient Indian culture. Actually, in the ancient Indian literature, Alexander was mentioned as Skanda, thus becaming the Indian war god. The name Skanda, according ancient Sanskrit, means "the leader of an ar...

Re: Alexander saved Philip's life?

Hi Diomedes,Yes, I remember reading about this scene in "Alexander's history" from Quintus Curtius Rufus. So, this happened during the fight with the ancient Tribali tribe. Philip's thigh was wounded (stuck through), his horse killed, he felt on the ground and the foes surrounded him at onc...

Re: ALEXANDER'S 1ST TUITOR?

Yes, Leonidas was a relative of Olympias and he trained Alexander's body and mind in Spartan way. In brief, he gave everything he could to insure that his mother won't spoil ATG with any luxuries while he was young :-)Regards,

Re: Melissa?

Hi Chris,As far as I know, there is no servant Melissa associated with ATG in any of the ancient sources. This could be some romantic hindu myth about Alexander's appreciation of the oriental beauty. Sikander is right about the ancient greek meaning of the name "melissa" - desert or honey ...

Re: re Alexander been a drunk and gay

Nice written Luc,Alexander has been richly depicted so far. That's why we can all find something in his personality to identify with or to be disappointed with. But, we should bear in mind the fact that he was all human, ...or depicted by people... so we should not take everything "for granted&...
