vasko.

i dont like to comment on such subjects, but i am always tempted. about greeks being of "another race", the people of your country and greeks are almost indistinguishable. racially we are both an almost 50/50 mix of alpine race(round head, medium stature) and mediteranean race(long head, n...

Re: How accurate is Manfredi's work?

it has alot of dramatized historical accuracy, which is good but for some reason i found myself getting extremley bored through the second half of book 2.it also contains so many cheesy lines that i cant bear to read much. such as alexander being able to tell that barsine's childlren were the son of...

Re: kristos-cont

i am sorry. you go off on tangents sometimes and i dont know what you are getting at or what you are talking about. this is one of those times.in any case, if you think you are right about the kristos thing, you are in the minority. this is the opinion of the roman catholic, orthodox, and even prote...

kristos

well it may seem more reasonable to you, but dont take my word for it; take the word of the Roman Catholic Church.http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08374x.htmThe word Christ, Christos, the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word Messias, means "anointed." According to the Old Law, priests (Exodu...

christos

you said "KRST=CROSS, KRSTOS= MAN ON CROSS in Makedonian)"Incorrect. Kristos, comes from the Greek to be annointed. Hence, annointed one. Christ was annointed. The Antiochians began referring to this radical sect of Jews as "kristos" as a greek mimicking the Hebrew Messiah, hebre...

i am sorry to tell you, but i dont see the comparison between Christ, Buddha, Mohammed etc, at least not in the way you mention.Alexander was a conqueror; he killed mercilessly and brought a lot of suffering to the peoples he subjected. How was this a greater ideal? His great ideal to him was that h...

Re: vasko?

Quickly, for about 40 years, southern by the valley of Bistrica (Halijakmon) river and western of Salonica (Solun), settled the Dragovites (Dragoviti). Their neighbors north of them were the Velegezites (Velegeziti), while between Ohrid, Bitola and Veles, settled the Berziti (Brsjaci). Near Salonica...

what 2000 year old source is the name "dragor" found in? i just named you the Chronicle of Constantine V Poryphronytus that implies the name "drago" arrives with the slavic dragovitsi, literally; in the chronicle "sclavinae dragovitsi".check out "demographics of th...

i disagree with one part that i see at least, you said: "the name dragor is ancient macedonian, etc."the prefix "drag" in Macedonia, comes from the Dragovitsi, a slavic tribe from Byelorus that invaded the Byzantine Empire in the 6th century. There are numerous similar toponyms t...

Re: Alexander! An Epirot or Not!

i guess there is no proof that aristotle held this position, it was in fact of course socrates who said it, " i am not greek nor athenian, but a citizen of the world". so who knows

Re: Alexander! An Epirot or Not!

hard one!hm.. well nothing really has survived of Alexander's knowledge of his heritage(earthly one at least). Giving his closeness to his mother, i am guessing he must have felt strongly about it i think, though i am doubftul, as king of Macedon that he would have made it especially public. In any c...

hi smitty...

well i think his information on the "italo illyric" tribes is a bit strange in my opinion. He proposes a theory that the Arbereshe of south Italy and Sicily are in fact the descendants of the Messepes and Venets(Venets dont seem to be Illyrians, in most modern scholarly circles at least, I...
