Re: nonsense talker....

In modern times it is important to make a distinction between modern greek macedonians, slavic macedonians, and albanian macedonians. This supposed study deals with Slav Macedonians. It was a study created by racists to attempt to degrade Greeks in general in regards to the semi-current disputes on ...

Brad Pitt

I have read that Brad Pitt is so embarassed of his "ugly feet" as he himself puts it, that he has chosen to wear these huge pair of boots instead of sandals in the movie. I saw the pictures of him in the huge boots and they look ridiculous. And how is he supposed to be killed by the arrow ...

nonsense talker....

Spanish and Slavic-Macedonian names are on the study, you conveniently avoid that. The study is only to be found on the internet. Here is what a panel of Italian anthropologists say of the study. On the mtDNA and Y-chromosome front, traces of Asian-specific DNA have been detected in the Greek gene poo...

Re: Alexanders Body

The field of archeology would love to find Alex's body. I would like to say that i am against it, but i think i can speak for all of us when i say that i would be pretty darn curious to see his tomb at least! The body is of little importance( though it may help us find out about his physical looks!)...

I am suprised to find such silliness on this forum...

The "subsaharan " study was an internet forgery, and it is based on faulty anthropology. A similar study finds links between japanese and bantu tribesmen. Not to mention the fact that modern slavic macedonians and modern greeks both share similar genes, being of the same balkan stock. It i...

Re: Racial Type of the Ancient Hellenes...

Well, my point was simply to:a) Point out that there are no absolute primary or secondary sources that refer to Alex as blonde.b) Dispute the fact that the Ancient Greeks(in particular, the Macedonians) were a race of "blue-eyed blondes" and in that respect the modern Greeks/Macedonians ar...

I take it as a slant towards me that i have not researched Alexander well enough?Well, let me just say that in my post i mentioned the goodness in Alexander, and his humanity.(it's like people did not even read that part or something!?) His growing lust for power and even his soldier's growing distr...

Dictator...

Well Alexander's display of force against Thebes was certainly characteristic of a dictator, as was intimidation of Athens and various other city-states. His slaughter and enslavement of the Tyreans and various other peoples also. His adpotion of the Persian Imperial custom of prostration only serve...

Hi Jan!

thanks for the info, However:There still is no proof, it is a hypothesis by Weigall that as far as i can tell from the passage does not seem to be based on much proof, i would be curious to see what led him to this conclusion. However, it is not big secret that many Macedonians were lighter than sou...

It depends on what you mean by "admired"..

Afterall, if Alexander were alive today we would probably consider him a sadist and a megalomaniac(and we would be correct). He sacked peaceful cities, imprisoned and killed rivals to the throne, sold women and children into slavery, and affectivley ended more then one democracy. He was a brutal dic...

Excellent points Susan...

I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any secondary sources that actaully referred to Alexander as blonde... he may well have been blonde.. especially due to his young age, the fact that his family was mostly from northern Greece, and also i have read that he used chamomile to lighten his hair.I al...

Let me start by saying...

I am in no way attempting to rule out the idea of blondes/red-heads/blue eyes in Ancient Greece, because these are all characteristics that also appear in Modern Greece. Specifically Blue or light eyes have an occurence of over 50% in some regions of Greece, and of course the most depigmented area o...
