As I said, I never expect you to change with your way of thinking, and that is a credit to you and your people. All I can say is you perhaps need (?)to read the sources a little more critically and see beyond the romance. Regarding Greek writing throughout the so called 'Dark-Ages' of Greece, I'm ye...

Whilst I realise, your questions are directed to Paralus, and I know he is enjoying his sleep at this ungodly hour, I shall take the opportunity to put some things into perspective for you on his behalf. Having said that, Paralus may not entirely agree with what I have to say anyhow LoL. I also real...

Kenny, don't confuse the Greco-Persian wars with that of the period in which Alexander fought against the Persians. There is over 150 years of military evolution that had since transpired. Alexander's army consisted of numerous differing troop types which provided flexibility and ability to cater fo...

I have read many non fiction things. From the ancient sources i ve only studied Arrian and Plutarch. Alexanthros, not that I take particular interest in the discussion at hand, but I'm a little suprised that you should be approaching the subject matter with such vigour - yet appear to have read lit...

Sounds like Thucydides to me. But I reckon he's only partly right - some major questions go unanswered I reckon.

My apologies Paralus, your absolutely right. Got ahead of my self a little. Don't know what I was thinking. I've been racking my brain over a paper on the Greco-Persian Wars. I'm supposed to explain why the Persians failed to take Greece. Problem is, I reckon they did. Gunna stir the pot a bit, not ...

Ruthaki, I don't think we know that Cleopatras son was king of Epirus or for that matter known as Neoptolemus. I believe Elizabeth Carney claims his name was Neoptolemus - but I'm not sure I understand how she arrives at that conclusion. But I guess your writing historical fiction, so I wouldn't wor...

Ruthaki, your friend may have been refering to the fact that at the time of these earlier poets writing such plays were performed in theatres that were only temporaray structures. Once festivals were over, the theatres were dismantled and put away till the next festival. I think that's what she may ...

My understanding is that Alcibiades was always portrayed wearing a helmet in attempt to cover up his rather elongated head.

I believe he was known affectionately as 'egg head' to his mates at the time.

And what pisses me off even more - is in the past you have had the nerve to suggest to me and others that we may have some sort of an agenda! Oh please.

Any way - not a happy smitty at the moment.

Thats life.

Efthasio - you don't belong to this 'Hellenic Front' mob by any chance do you? It seems many of your thoughts are in alignment with many of theirs. Greek supremacy, no homosexuals in Greece, 6000 year old Greek alpahbets, etc. I rarely have time to spend on the internet these days, but doing a simpl...

Semiramis, welcome to Pothos - I enjoy reading your posts. :) I find myself agreeing with many points you make and I have always believed the Argeads attempted to emulate the Achaemenids.
