Re: A solar observatory in the lion-hunt painting at Vergina

System 1988, When you stated that the painting would soon be covered by earth, what did you mean exactly? Did they themselves cover the entire tomb with earth after the bodies were in place? I don't know too much about this tomb. I have of course run across it many times here and there. I didn't kno...

Re: A solar observatory in the lion-hunt painting at Vergina

At first glance, they appear to be distant mountains. But from what I see, the bear is kinda halfway climbing on the side of the one on the right. So I would think they were rocks. I don't see how anyone could say they are the ones in the photo though. One has a slightly similar shape. And that's ab...

Re: Child Prodigy, nucleus of novel

I think I will have a crack at it. I have never really tried writing before but there's no time like the present to begin! It's gonna be terrible! :D
I kinda like bad zombie movies though, maybe people will like my bad zombie book :D

Re: Child Prodigy, nucleus of novel

Derek, I got the idea of a phalanx of Macedonian vampires from your post, so by all means, use it to your liking! I'd actually feel pretty happy about it if it found it's way into your book. :D The "Reign" anime series didn't have any vampires, so your safe with your idea still. And the on...

A phalanx of Macedonian vampires... count me in!
Derek,
Have you ever watched "reign"? The anime flick where Porus is actually Darius as a zombie? And his army is all the fallen soldiers the Macedonians killed throughout the campaign? Ahh,.. good stuff. :)

Re: Child Prodigy, nucleus of novel

Did anyone happen to read the fictional novel titled " the Alexander Cypher"? I did, it was in hardback right when I walked into borders,(a big chain store if some do not know of borders). But anyway, I bought it. And wondered why it got " front row" at the store when fictional A...

Re: help with battle line up at Gaugamela

Chris, would it be possible to take some pictures of this when your done and post em up here? I've wanted to do something like that for quite awhile. The movie "ronin" with Robert DeNero has a pretty cool scene where a guy is building a really big set of the Ronin warriors defending a vill...

Re: Macedonian Shield

Agesilaos, Do you know if the image on the first coin you posted is supposed to be an anchor in the center? I can't see it very well but that's what it looks like to me. And last I knew, historians did not think that style anchor was invented untill the later Roman times. Nothing to do with the thre...

Re: Macedonian Shield

Taphoi, Thank you for posting the side image of the stone in St.marks. this is the first time I have been able to see it from this angle. And (in my opinion) gives so much more towards the argument that it is Macedonian than just the front by itself. The similarities between The image of a known Mac...

Re: Macedonian Shield

OK ok. My apologies.
I knew what I was doing though.

Agesilaos, thank you for putting up the image of the St.marks stone. I know it doesnt have the other "stars" circling it, but the center image seems quite similar.

Re: Macedonian Shield

@system 1988, The tomb of St.Mark is pretty interesting stuff. I might get the story a bit wrong but here it is in brief. Some people believe that the tomb of St.Mark is actually the final resting place of Alexander's mortal remains. Supposedly Alexander's remains were smuggled out of Egypt from his...

Re: Macedonian Shield

Im going ridiculously far out on a limb here, and will probably show my ignorance in multiple fields by asking this, but I will anyway. So there is a big Macedonian "star" in the middle, and seven smaller stars encircling the big one. Was there not a time where astronomers believed there w...
