Re: Alexander the Great and his 'equality'

Alexander might Have considered himself equal with Hephistian. He might have considered himself equal with the whole crew he grew up with who later became his top Generals. I would be willing to bet that equality even among his buddies only went so far... lets ask Philotis and Cleitis how they feel....

I can't even imagine what my thoughts on Alexander would be without his seemingly endless knowledge on the subject. Rest In Peace.

Re: successors source

we have a continuous narrative in Justin's Epitome of The Philippic History of Trogus So Justin is a continuous narrative of Trogus correct? How accurate is this narrative supposed to be compared to Trogus? And do we know where Trogus got his information? Like I stated earlier, I do not have access...

successors source

With Alexander we have the regular sources in which we can look up what we wish, and have a fairly good grip on what we can and can't find within them. I was wondering if there are any ancient sources that still survive that focus on one single, or all the successors. Or do we get all of our knowled...

Re: "Who's Who in the Age of Alexander"

One book that I've always recommended for anyone new to Alexander, such as students, is Michael Woods "in the footsteps of Alexander". The reason is Michael actually traveled the entire route,(modern vehicles of course) that Alexander and his Army took from start to finish. Aside from a fe...

Ha! That's what I thought. But a marble Yoda standing in the panthion as a thirteenth god IS strangely appealing. Nevermind, no it is not.

John Wayne as Ghengis? William Shatner as Alexander? I am very thankful to have been born post ~"Shat the Great". Although I believe Colin has em all beat hands down when it comes to miscasted actors. For a good laugh go find the test screening of Colin trying to portray Alexander for the ...

the greek gods today

Does anyone know if there are any modern religions today who still worship the gods of ancient greece? I know the Kalash of Afghanistan are supposedly decended from local Afghans who hooked up with some of Alexanders Macedonian army. That is why they are the one tribe with blue eyes apperently. And ...

logistics question

First off, I would like to say hello to everyone here at Pothos. This is my first post and although I have dozens of questions that I know could easily be answered here, the one I'm concerned about is with logistics. I know I have read in the past about who all traveled with Alexander through persia...
