Lovely pictures, but it looks distinctly medieval (and Islamic) to me! I would be inclined to accept if the pictures were of a medieval building built on the site of the Hellenistic period one. Do you know whether that is actually the case? All the bestMarcus

lol, I think that you've mistaken it with Islamic constructions around it.

I, too, wondered if what we are seeing in the web pictures is
"Alexander's prison" or a later building - pictures entitled "Alexander's
Prison Dome Inerior" [sic] and "Alexander's Prison Facade" for instance
- strike me as later than "our" period. However the site pictures the
yazd mock-up and the note about "construction to Alexander III of
Macedonia, who built a prison there for great men" is fascinating. Are
there any published (or unpublished but available) archaeological
reports on the site? And, Marcus, welcome back from Lindos! enjoy...... wmp

Ah, maybe I didn't look closely enough at the photos - the problem with trying to get through things too quickly! If it really is the site of an Alexandrian prison then it's a very interesting site (not that it isn't interesting, anyway!).All the bestMarcus
