Yes, the subject header is correct - that's "pup culture" not "pop culture". :) The sub-header is "Landseer’s Little Joke on Us", as written by Bud Boccone at this website. Nice little article (and a marvelous painting that I shamefully admit I did not know about).

They are the 'pezhetairoi' mentioned in Arrian, thus Landseer backs up Theopompos. Do you notice the Athenian prostitute in the blue ribbon? Or maybe it's an anachronistic group of Eurydike clearly impressed by Kassandros the greyhound (?) while Philip III is distracted and Alexander IV appears as a puppy (aah)
