I can confirm Liz is working on a trans and commentary of the Metz as we speak. With the glacial pace of publication these days though, it's hard to say when it will be available.. cheers Pat

People tended not to get into 'Alliances' with Alexander. You either submitted unconditionally and he treated you as his whims dictated, or you resisted and were destroyed (though Porus seems to have come out of it more-or-less OK).
Gotta stay realistic about the guy...he wasn't nice!

Craterus has always been underdone by scholars it seems to me; I wrote an Honours Dissertation on him in about 1993 in Western Australia, and one of my lecturers, Norman Ashton, wrote an article on him early in the 90s,which is probably not circulated much, but is very good.
