Re: Has anyone read this new novel yet?

Greetings Marcus and Amyntoros, I hope someone will provide a review! I am trying to avoid sneaking home early <laughing>. But $100.00?!!? Is that correct? I think we only paid the equivalent of about 25 US dollars.. I thought it was about twelve-thirteen pounds in the UK? If no one else has read it...

Re: Maracanda and Alexandria Margiana

Greetings Marcus,

Enjoyed your photos. Nice capture on the Silk Road Memorial and the Akhal Tekes- clearly showed their unique traits, even the "razor withers" <chuckling>. When do we get to read more of your adventures?

Re: Need your opinions on adding Sub forums.

Greetings, While I understand the desire for sub-forums, I would like us to consider the potential need for increased moderation. I can see, especially under "Greek/Macedonian" history, a possible plethora of problems involving modern history, the Makedonians versus Macedonians debate, mod...

Your Presentation

Greetings, What is the purpose fo the lecture? Is it for a history class? A political class? The type of class might determine the focus of your presentation. I have found with some general classes with young people, it helps to introduce them to the overall accomplishment of Alexander (the scope of...

Adding to Pothos

Greetings All, I like the suggestion of additional topics; the idea of illustrating various articles with photos and videos (?) would be excellent, especially if they *could* be connected to specific elements in each article.. Additional articles on various characters would also be a nice touch, jus...

Greetings Paralus, "Questions, questions Sikander. " <smiling> Naturally.. "You are correct though: modern perceptions cloud our view. This is unavoidable. Hence my caveat on the Greek. It does seem clear though that a relatively young age is meant (13-14yrs)" It would seem so (d...

Greetings Paralus and Marcus, Thank you for bringing up Arrian. I was trying to recall the passages that might have led to someone considering an older age for the pages; Curtius stood out for that. This discussion is another good example of the difficulties that arise when modern values or percepti...

Age of Pages

Greetings, I think the assumption of youth comes from Curtius referencing bringing "adult sons" to the court to serve.. which is then up to interpretation being any of the following: being ofan age to fight (itself open to interpretation), between the ages of 14-18, between 16-18, etc.. Is...

Greetings Eschatos, "The idea to find a gay icon, in a historical figure that we can't define "gay" nowday (because the totally different sexuality of 2000 years ago), risks to make misunderstandings on the real Alexander behaviour" I agree it can lead to misinterpretation of Ale...
