Re: Dancing with the Lion: preorder is open
Ha, yeah. There are rather a lot of them. One is sideways and I don't know how to rotate it, and another I rotated while taking it, and can't fix that, either. Definitely don't have a future as a video person. LOL.

Re: Dancing with the Lion: preorder is open
Thanks, Alexias and Eclipse. FWIW, the official website is open, although it's still a work in progress as I have fun things to add, but need to learn how to write HTML code for audio, etc. :-) Yet I note it here for the "History to Story" page in particular, as that's the Author's Note at...

Re: Dancing with the Lion: preorder is open
Is "unexpected" good or bad? Ha. My general style (training) is in lit fic. In the past, I've published short fiction/poetry in that genre.

Re: Dancing with the Lion: preorder is open
It's written to be a romance teaser because that's the publisher, so they want to emphasize the relationship between the two boys. And it is central, but by no means the only significant one. The novel is really a coming-of-age story, as well as about fathers and sons (Philip and Alexander, Amyntor ...

Dancing with the Lion: preorder is open
It's open for preorders! https://riptidepublishing.com/collections/series-dancing-with-the-lion They're still concealing the covers, but they're spectacular, especially for book 1. That said, preorders are now available on Riptide's site. It is not yet available on Amazon, and I assume it won't be u...

Re: Map of Alexander's campaign in Balkans
Hey, Delos -- Let us know what you think of the palace. It was still closed when I was there. Looked like they were bringing in big ashlar blocks, which made me a bit nervous. Hope they open the theatre again, too. I haven't been inside that since 1997!

Alexias, thank you. I've downloaded that to add to my Power-point the next time I teach the ATG class.

Re: Map of Alexander's campaign in Balkans
FWIW, I'd love to have one of these too. One of the more under-reported periods of ATG's campaign.

Re: Alexander and Ptolomy brothers?
Ack, thanks, Alexias. I've been covered up lately. I will try to get back to this. My chief concern is that Karanos is in *no* other historical text, plus "Karanos" is a weird name for a royal. Justin does sometimes have info other texts don't (especially for Philip's time in Thrace), but ...

Re: Alexander and Ptolomy brothers?
I've never read an argument that Justin's Karanos was other than Kleopatra's son: I'm at home, so can't run to John Yardley's translation to check, but I NEVER had the impression Karanos was a boy or teen. Also Justin's "brothers" is certainly wrong, as even if he killed Karanos (assuming ...

Re: Alexander and Ptolomy brothers?
I agree that I the story of Ptolemy's bastard status was almost certainly made up later, probably by Ptolemy Keranos. That said, Alexander only killed Amyntas and the two younger Lynkestian princes--the dangerous ones (e.g., the possible rivals). Arrhidaios wasn't a threat, but Alexander almost cert...

Re: Alexander died of GBS?
I saw this, and found it interesting. One of the theories for his death by typhoid includes ascending paralysis, which came to the same conclusion: he didn't die on July 10th. But he was certainly dead by the time the embalmers were done with him. (God, I hope he couldn't feel anything anymore and w...

Re: Dancing with the Lion (novels on the young ATG)
I have seen the ARC (advance review copy) for book I ( Becoming ). It exists! It's going out to review readers soonish. My niece has done a fantastic map, in the 19th Century map style, which I think readers will really enjoy, but I haven't seen the final cover art yet (the cover on the ARC is just ...
