Antipater after Alexander

Does anyone in the forum know the fate of Antipater following Alexanders death.Did he die of natural causes or where there any mysterious sercumstances, how long after Alexanders death did Cassander gain control of Mecedon.Im pretty sure the scene in the trailer where Alexanders is lloking into the eyes of some one with anger, is the occasion Alexander gave Cassander a clip round the ear for him laughing at the customs Alexander was using.It shows that the Cassander input is a liitle more examined.Whilst I was in Greece Cassander was hailed as opne of Alexanders trusted generals, Sometime ignorance from people who should know better is amaizing.Anyway has any one done any study into Antipater after Alexander,I wouldnt be suprised if he got the strange nile virus.Kenny

Antipatros died in the autumn of 319. He was an old man - 79 years old. One of his last acts was to execute the Athenian orator Demades, along with his son Demeas, for having conspired with Perdikkas. Demades had previously described Antipatros as an "old and rotten rope".Susan

I understand (and I think the info came from Plutarch) that Kassandros was the one who had the Athenian senators killed in the Assembly.

They were executed by Cassander in Macedonia: see Plutarch Phocion :"(Demades) came just at that nick of time when Antipater was already seized with his sickness, and Cassander, taking upon himself the command, had found a letter of Demades's, formerly written by him to Antigonus in Asia recommending him to come and possess himself of the empire of Greece and Macedon, now hanging, he said (a scoff at Antipater), "by an old and rotten thread."
