Alexander sarcophagus

Post by delos13 »

I came across a traveling exhibition entitled "Gods in colour". I never heard about it before but it soon comes to San Francisco Art Museum.

All the images in the link are very beautiful. At the very bottom, there are a few images of the so called Alexander sarcophagus. The colourful interior of the shield is quite amazing.

I am glad that that exhibit is still circulating! Seeing things full size with your eyes is much better than seeing a low-resolution image on a screen.

Do go and see this exhibition if you can! It is absolutely mindblowing and makes you wonder why we ignored the fully colored Greek art for so many centuries!

Truly beautiful. And the website is charming!
