Oh, I do like that.

I have to admit that, in all my years, I've never been to the FitzWilliam Museum. I think I ought to make time for a visit, now, if only to see this piece. (It's also been a long time since I was at the Ashmolean in Oxford, so perhaps 2025 will be my 'regional museums' year!).

It's a long time since I had been to the Fiztwilliam. That was back in the days before you were allowed to take photos! The Ashmolean has, I think, a better classical section than the Fitzwilliam, but the Fitzwilliam has some major paintings.

If you do go to Cambridge, make sure you go to the cast museum. This is separate from the Fitzwilliam and is based in the Classics department. https://www.classics.cam.ac.uk/museum/collections. I have some photos to post of their Alexander heads. The Ashmolean also has some brilliant casts, and these are housed within the museum itself.

Thanks for the advice.

Maybe I'll try to make some time for a visit during the Christmas holiday!
