Very whittyt with all due respect, bucephalus died of old age no mystery there mate no controvesy, your medicine yes.Did you watch the programe int the investigation on Alexanders murder. The experiment on the comouterised model that died in exactly the same way as Alexander did had the model been administered poison by Cassander who had traveled 1500 miles to do the deed.Tre can you explain this theory as you are so genned up on ancient medicine and poisons. The investigator concluded that Alexander had accidently been poisoned by his doctor Philip, the same doctor who was a brilliant doctor and brought ATG back from death many times. The investigator conclude that Philip used the poison to Make Alexander to vomit to hasten his revovery, well Its very unlikely that Philip would have been so stupid and Alexander so stupid as well. All due respect tre the investigator also outlined Cassanders motives, form and opportunity, why do you think he traveled all that way to see a man he hated, maybe to give him the seal of approval that ATG would be replacing them in Macedonia.

There's so many theories these days. I happen to still believe in the 'death by malice'. That is to say, that the 'poison' administered (probably not strycnine but something more subtle) caused him to get sicker and weaker and thus not recover. There are theories of this and even at the time the fingers pointed at Kassandros. Of course, nobody can prove or has proven anything really. None of us know for sure. We're all just supposing. Guess we'll have to wait til Judgement Day to ask the hero/god himself!

First caveat, never believe everything you see on TV, although several purges used by ancient doctors were deadly if administered incorrectly. Note Alexander's concern about the dosage of a purge being administered to Craterus when he was sick. The last few days of Alexander's life were spent speechless and immobile, so at that point, he would not have been purged at all.Second caveat, just because his cup bearer was Cassander's brother, certainly doesn't mean he hated the King like Cassander. In fact, Antipater's kids who are mentioned in history, wanted nothing to do with Cassander.Cassander did not choose to go to Babylon - his father sent him there in place of himself. Alexander was looking for a graceful way for Craterus to become Regent and Antipater to exit with honor. It makes for good fiction and gossip, but I seen no solid evidence that Cassander had anything to do with the King's death. And before we get into 'look what he did to the King's family,' that's exactly what Argeads did to clear the way for themselves to get to the throne.Regards,Tre
