Alexander's busts

Hello,I noticed that most of ALexander's head busts have the nose broken off. I wonder if this is something that naturally happen to head busts in general, since the nose is the part if the face that protrudes. Or was this something that was systematicall done to Alexander's busts specifically?--Karla

As you guessed, anything prominent tends to break -- noses, ears, fingers, arms, bits of hair, penises (g). It's something we see with a lot of statues, not just ATG.Dr. Jeanne Reames-Zimmerman;

The only ones that seem to stay intact are those cast in bronze.

There is one in the incredible museum at OlympiaI think its a copy dating quite a bit after his deathThe statue of Hermes is the most amazing exhibit
in the place.
