Dear friends,
Tonight, I received a message that the University of Kansas will no longer host the Lacus Curtius Website ( http://www.ukans.edu/history/index/euro ... /home.html ). It is not known when the site will be closed down, but the owner, a kind man named Bill Thayer, has decided to take his loss and will not fight against heavy odds.
So, if you want to download the full digital Curtius Rufus (Latin), or Plutarch's On the Fortune or the Virtue of Alexander (English), do it as soon as possible.
If someone over here can host a very, very large website, please contact me.

As I understand it, the website at the University of Kansas will be "frozen" for some time, and will then be removed. Meanwhile, employees of the University of Chicago are trying to rescue the site, but it is unclear if they will be able to store, as I understand, 1.4 GB of information and host 50,000 visitors/day.Jona

Speak of kind! Thank you Jona for drumming up help....My site is now moved, all of it, to
http://penelope.uchicago.edu/Thayer/E/home.htmland it looks like the server there will be able to handle it, so I'm not
expecting any further move. So -- do change any links or
bookmarks; and of course, you need no longer worry about any of
the Alexander stuff going offline. On the other hand, if you wish to
copy the Plutarch or Curtius, that's fine: it's all public domain
(except for my notes, of course).
