vanishing threads

Hi allA few days ago someone raised the issue of interesting threads dropping off the screen. I replied mentioning a method of organizing the forum that would take care of this and, hopefully, enhance our enjoyment of this excelent meeting place.I didnGÇÖt get much of a reply to it then, but I think it is really useful and, at least to my inexpierenced eye in websites management, not very difficult to implement. So here it is again.Basically, it consists of 3 elements:1. New threads appear at the top of the screen (no change here, though maybe a small icon saying GÇ£newGÇ¥ besides it for the first 24 hours after its entering would be nice).2. A thread that receives a reply is immediately moved to the top of the screen.3. Threads remain visible as long as they have received a reply/been entered (whatever happened later) in the last, say, 7 days. This will ensure that topics that are popular will be at the top of the screen, and those who are not/were exhausted will climb down, until they drop off the screen if they are not visited for a whole week. The main drawback is that some people may try to keep alive their own threads (not so bad in general, but think about endless Macedonian-Greek debates). However, this could make easier its detection and, if needed, deletion by moderators.I donGÇÖt know if this requires too much time/effort to do (my knowledge about websites' organization is nil), but if it is feasible, I think this could benefit the discussion in the forum.So... thoughts anyone?Kind regards,Alejandro
