I just jvisdited a movie sight and rightbthe in filming Hannibal iz Vin Deizel. Critics have saide on of the worlds grat commanders played by thge world actor.I resever Judgend and will be left a likttle peaved if the movie is Better than Alexander. I vin Diezel will be waring a wig.Secondly Oeter Jackson makesa 3 hour fanttastic film aboiut a huge gorrila. 3 hours for is too long.but he is proving a great producer the way he cares abnd carefully brings the story to life.Oh if He had An interesdt in Alexander Im sure hede do a better job than stones lame effort and im sure he add all the right dialogue,.
lets larry roung jackson to give the world a real ALEXANDER.KENNY

Kenny,1. Oliver Stone's Alexander was great.2. I agree that Vin Diesel doesn't sound too promising. What, Arnold refused?3. Please do try and proof-read your posts-I really struggled to read through this one!:-)

I think that will be a fabulous movie and look forward to seeing it. I believe Hannibal's story will be as exciting as what Alexander's was on the big screen. I look forward to spending countless hours rewinding the tape when I finally is available in the stores - and then become really acquainted with the history of Hannibal.

Hail Janet and Lord.Sorry for my messy typing yesterday I had a bad day at work.Im looking foreward to this movie for Action and entertainment Value.I used to like Hannibal but having read about him for me he is one of the Most overated Commanders. I wouldnt put him in the top 10. My arguement with Hannibal ok he won some great battles but never had the brains to use them. He was messing about in Italy for over a decade with nothing decisive aginst a still developing Roman force and inept commanders.Scipio worked him out mopped up behind him cut off his reinforcements then took him out at Zama.Could you Imagine Alexander with the Brilliant Victory at Canea. Im afraid he wouldnt give the Romans chance to breath let alone regroup. We would have been upon Rome within weeks. Only my opinion. Hanibal overated Ambush merchant.kenny

Cinderella man was ok...not great. I think the main problem that I had with it was that it recounted the tale of some boxer in the depression. I've gotta say quite emphatically: WHO CARES!!!!There wasn't too much to complain about in the Stone film. Besides the fact that he tried to cram the whole story into one movie (stupid idea from the start), my other complaints would be that he has a tendency to include allusions that are non-productive. The snakes in the cave, he describes as sexual, that's fine if we were witnessing some kind of sexual scene, kinda silly otherwise, just an allusion pointing to nowhere. The fact that he tried to incorporate allusionary scenary does separate him from most other A-list directors though. It's artistic, and a vanishing artform. I think the character (and genre) deserves a thorough rendering, he was too important to short-shrift the way Stone did. later Nicator
Later Nicator

Thus, rain sodden and soaked, under darkness cloaked,
Alexander began, his grand plan, invoked...

G'day Nicator. The Stone film was acceptable. My criticisms though are dispersed throughout the forum's threads."Besides the fact that he tried to cram the whole story into one movieGǪ"Indeed, the entire problem, necessitating the conflation of three of the classic battles of antiquity into one: sacrilege."I think the character (and genre) deserves a thorough rendering, he was too important to short-shrift the way Stone did."
Abso-bloody-lutely. But, you get what Hollywood will pay for. Well, big business anyhow.
Could have been worse: George Lucas turning "Alexander" ("use the arete Alex..")into a mystical good versus evil adventure; Steven Spielberg creating an ancient "feel good" adult fairy-tale with a happier endingGǪ..The Brotherhood of Man.
