Hello,
thought you might find this interesting, it does make you wonder if the Babylonian astronomers were the greats of the time...

Probably by Archimedes, as Syrracusia the bigest ship until the 19th century, and the mirrors that burned the roman ships.

Those war machines Archimedes Invented cant really be clarified . Some seem to defy Physics. I dont know if you ever saw a programe called something like Building the Impossible.
One programe had a group of engineers architects etc trying to Replicate the Invention that Archimedes supposed to have done that apparently picked up Roman Ships and Smashed them against the walls.
They used all the knowledge and adjustments and still could only build something that could just a bout lift a specially positioned smaller Boat. And the machine could just about lift the boat. That was weighted at the Back so the machine could lift it. Even then the structure started to break and became unsafe. They have tried to replicate a few of these ancient engines Even a massive Roman Torsion Crossbow with similar Results.
Some of these inventions must be pure fantasy. To emphasise someone genius or importance.

Yet, in 2006 they managed to do it.They burned replicas of ships with a system similar to Archimedes. We dont know how the system was, but they build something with mirrors, complicated, but it could be on a ship.
They have also tried to replicate Parthenon (in Germany and in U.S), but the result is a caricature. As we have said in an other post, the Parthenon has many things that make it unique which they cant replicate.
But the Parthenon is there, and all can see it.I dont kow about Archimedes inventions, but i dont have a reason to doubt them.Syrracusia, the ship, existed. Why not the rest?
