yesterday I watched National Geographic series Troy and their portraying of Greeks seemed to me a little bit confusing. maybe someone could help me with clarifying how greek helmets in Mycenian age looked like? For me the ones used in films more looked like V century BC...

I don't know whether it's the only example found, but there was found a boar's tusk helmet, just like wot Homer describes (which excited people terribly). It was a bronze(?) helmet with lots of boars' tusks stuck on it.

There's a photograph of a Mycenaean boar's tusk helmet on the web page of the
Archeological Museum of Herakleion. Only a small photograph, but clicking on it will bring up a decent sized image. What amazes me is the condition of the helmet considering it dates from around 1450 - 1300 BC. I imagine the leather parts
must be a reconstruction, although the site doesn't say.
Best regards,

Best regards,
That was a very beautiful helmet and in excellent condition. I also imagine some parts are a reconstruction. I wonder where exactly it was found. It's a shame they don't tell us.

Several informations both based on archaeological fonts and Homer descriptions about the Mycenaean weapons (including helmets) are present in this web site
