It would have been a more logical conclusion to have stuck with the Regulan alignment, all of these people were Kings after all ; as has been discussed here elsewhere Plutarch's birthdate is suspect, surprising that the authors accept this tendentious evidence in one breath and dismiss his claims of a favourable location in the next. Since the surveyors would have used direct observation rather than calculation half a degree seems a large error, ignore the putative Birthday and a one second error seems acceptable; i suppose an Alexander connection is more sexy than plain astrology. Was Regulus significant in the 4th Century BC, though?
