Do your homework. There are various theories including the modern medical versions that he may have had typhoid. When I was researching for my novel Shadow of the Lion I had an interview with the professor who was Secty of Macedonian Studies
in Thessaloniki. That was one of my first questions. And she said yes, they were going with that theory because he had a great many enemies at the time he died. There is no proof either way, so do your studies and take your pick of theories. I've chosen to go with the "his death was hastened by malice" theory in my novel. But then, I'm writing historical fiction so I can pick and choose.
And I wouldn't have done this had the Greeks not given me this opinion.
