The Greatest Legend Was Real

Post by iskander_32 »

Hi Folkshaving watched the Alexander trailer, I like the line; The Greatest Legend was Real. What will we say to people who will want to know,as I am sure anyone will think that thge story of Alexanders life must not have been true, as the saying goes with regard to Alexanders story it is a case, that fact outshines any fiction. We watched Lord Of The Rings, Matrix, Gladiator all great stories with fantastic special effects and grand scale battle scenes.Lord of the Rings we saw a made up scenario of a small army standing against enourmous odds, with Alexander a small army overcame these odds.Maybe for the first time of watching a movie people will see a real and nearly proven legend, there are grey areas with his life as we all know but I think we all agree that the achievements do pass the litmus test. It pleases me that I think of Alexander the way I do and really we all do, I think we hold a fascination for someone whe really was unique. Can we compare anyone else throughout the whole of mankind history that comes close to this legend?regardsKenny

Alexander overcame odds but he was above all a conqueror rather than a guy resisting oppression.
He is to be admired for his unbeaten military record and the fact he led his armies by example.I imagine this line is in response to Troy.
Stone is likley keen to distance his production from what is probably a myth - the Trojan war.
Just in case your average popcorn munching half wit reckons its Troy Story 2.

I like that: "Troy Story 2" - thanks for the smile it gave me.Of course, Alexander would probably have been quite happy if his story were considered to be a sequel to Troy... although he would have wanted the rare occurrence of a sequel that's better than the original! All the bestMarcus

Your welcome...
I hope Stone brings out the charismatic side of Alexander, the determined young idealist inspired by Homer to spur on his armies , not just to conquer the Persians but also their own fears.
I want to feel the force of his character come from the screen. I hope that is the main ingredient.

Did he want them to conquer their own fears? It sounds very psychobabble to me; he wanted them to be brave, of course, and to endure, and to win. And as for conquering death, or whatever it says in the trailer, again, is that likely? Surely conquering death is going against the gods. It sounded a bit satanic to me (not that they had satan in their religion).I like Troy Story 2 :) The irony..

I think what he meant by conquering death was to conquer death through everlasting fame by their great deeds on the battle field. The only thing that bothered me was Colin's innappropriate vocal inflections...sounded like he was trying to sound charismatic, as of opposed to being charismatic. later Nicator
