Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
Can anyone tell me of the grandchildren of Alexander the Great? I have learned that he had several. Anyone?
Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
His only progeny were Alexander IV died childless and possibly Herakles who died in a similar status so where are these grand children meant to come from?
When you think about, it free-choice is the only possible option.
Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
Greetings Karl,I would have to agree with you. I have, however, noticed some claims otherwise cropping up periodically (based on later stories, tall tales and myths), and indeed, there *are* several families claiming ATG as an "ancestor", going so far as to put their "family trees" on the Internet...grandiose ancestral tales, no doubt (laughing>. I would put these in with the "legends" section on Pothos..much like the speech at Opis currently circulating as "fact".. Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
I dont think it impossible, there were illiogitemate children along the way and there off spring, A little like Elvis putting a few buns in the oven realistically it must be assumed there were. But the ligitemate and known children as it has been pointed out were all put to death and the flame was put out.People claiming to be must be ignored even if they are there would really be no proof or evidence,I dont doubt there may be people alive today with traces of Alexanders blood but it doesnt mean anything as those who claim to be Elvis children and off s[pring dont really matter,in history or society.RegardsKenny

Re: I think its the ">"
Hi Sikander -I suppose pothos.org recognizes the ">" tag that you did put behind the word "laughing" as a (incorrect) HTML-code. That produces the double sentences." tag that you did put behind the word "laughing" as a (incorrect) HTML-code. Re: and the proof is there
See, I used the same tags in my posting and the subject line gets scrambled as well as error messages at the bottom of the posting.Nick

Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
Greetings Andrew,The "Amazons" were part of mythology by the time of Alexander, if I recall. There has been a lot of study done on the possibility of Amazons; most conclude there well may have been tribal people with women of status/power/military training around the Black Sea area and amongst the Scythians etc, but that most of these tribal people were 'absorbed" by the time of ATG into more patriarchal/patrifocal cultures. As one of ATG's own people stated when he heard the story of the "Amazon Queen", "And where was I when this happened?" As to the Xenaphiles, unfortunately half-naked women in furs and chains and big hair were unlikely, also. Even in vase depictions of Amazons, they are somewhat heavily clothed (laughing).
(Though we will probably see a resurgence of Amazon tales with the production of the Alexander movie depicting a scantily-clad woman as one of his friends) Now what was her name? Leto?

Re: you are being served
Hi Companions -I added both "Mystical grandchildren" as well as "African safari" to the Myths & Trivia article. If there are any comments, I will review them and change the text. Thanks Sikander, for adding a new African story to my list of examples! (You that know African history, after Alexander & Darius, is my favorite subject.)Best regards -Nick
Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
Thanks to the Egyptian name meryamun setepenamun alexandros, I was able to find a geneaology page which lists all his children and grandchildren. A daughter by Roxanne had four children. There were others in this geneology as well. It can be found at Yahoo search engines. I just wondered if anyone had stories to tell about these children.
Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
Yikes! It's another Jacob Holdt family tree all over again!! Just cuz its on the Internet it doesn't mean its true!
Re: Grandchildren of Alexander the Great
Thanks, everyone, for the great responses. The geneaology page where I read this piece of data was soon replaced by a different page, so I have no idea what is going on in this website now. I learned it through searching the Egyptian pharoah's name meryamun setepenre alexandros. First, it gave the geneaology, and then a different page on kings. If there is truth in any of it, it just proves that Alexander is very discreet and secretive in his personal life.
