The article can be enlarged by your browser, so you can see it. I found out how to do it on mine (its a bit different from the other computer I had). It's a very good article. This looks like it is going to be quite the film!Dara

Hi Dara,I found the article on the ColinFarrellFanSite also where it can be read in its entirety.I am a former English teacher, and I do believe that Colin Farrell should learn not to say see so repeatedly. I worked with teenagers and as Columbine is so serious in its horror story, I do not like to think that Alexander the movie will have an influence for making killing look cool.Colin's attitude in this article is frankly annoying to me as he can't do anything but be salacious and stupid. If he makes Alexander as stupid as he is himself, then Stone can start to count his losses already! As I am partial to the hanging gardens myself, I will go see the movie for that alone. At least, they can't be damaged by the wrong dialogue, only the set designer.Colin should clean up his act to sell this movie properly. I am one of the more puritanical set who want to be able to manage a group of teenagers without having to hear "see" repeatedly. Go get shagged, as they in England is what Colin is saying.

Hi jan,Yes, I was there (at Carmen Arace) for 3 years, but I have a new job, starting in a few weeks. I guess you found the school site on the internet. As for the article, as far as what Colin said, you noticed it more than me, I guess. I paid more attention to the "how they made the film" aspect, than to what the actors said. Unfortunately, that is Colin Farrell. He is honest and abrupt, at times (I am being nice, I guess). He can also be funny & charming, at other times (I have seen him on a few talk shows where he was fun to watch). I am not a fan of all his antics at all, but I do like his acting. I don't think you will see Colin promote this film in a salacious or stupid manner. This film is too important to him and Stone for him to screw that up. What I have read does not point in that direction, anyway. But lets see as the film gets closer.Dara

Besides "see"

It's the way of many young Irishmen, they use four letter words just to say goodbye, no big deal.
This modern day James Dean will have no effect on the academy no matter what Colin says. This was proven when Bando and C Scott debunked these so called well wishers and both called em a bunch of blank, blank, sons of....you get the idea. It made no difference, they still won!

And to the self proclaimed aristocrats that say *well, I have never!* I say, and you will never either. :-)

Hi again jan,I see I got a mention over on the Oliver Stone Messageboard (I check the board out every once in awhile). I do think the movie will be worth it. But you are right it depends on Colin. But I like epics and this one I have been looking forward to since I heard about it back in 2002. I am not an expert on Alexander, but I find him to be such an intriguing and fascinating person. Like I said, I don't like Colin's crude language and antics, at all. It does turn me off. I think it isn't a good message to send to kids, I agree, your right. I am interested in seeing at how he portrays the part of Alexander. It's the acting that is the important part. If he can get the part right then the film will be worth it. I think he can do it, but I will reserve judgement for when I see it. Farrell may be a lot of things, but it shouldn't affect his ability to play Alexander. I may be wrong and I don't think everyone is going to be happy with the film. But thats the way things go. I have given a bit more than 2 cents about this subject. It's time for me to give it a rest for awhile. Dara

Hi Dara, Those are two really nice responses. Well, the f'g Doris Day got to me immediately. I have always identified with her, and right away, I got the idea. Friends of mine used to call me that when I was a teenager and she was at the height of her fame as we have a slight resemblance, mostly freckles, and it just really hit me, as I had already told the world of England about her influence on me in some q&a on the internet years ago. Actually, I think Colin resembles me some too, and I suspect that he is right about his resemblance to Doris Day as well.Wonder what Oliver is up to?I am sure that Farrell will do a great job as he has shown great respect for Oliver Stone, and Oliver is trusting in him. I do not doubt Oliver's choice at all. It is just that my students used to always give me headaches with the word f**** and I had to teach them its derivation to satisfy their thirsty young minds. We erased f***off the school walls constantly, and here we have Colin shouting it to the world. Oh, boy, you have my sympathies! Your age group is the most challenging! And yes, I did get it from the internet. I have great respect for your profession! I have been there, done that! to quote GHBush!

Thanks for posting Dara. Interesting article. I just wonder though, since Farrell apparently took a header down the stairs and broke his ankle because he had been drinking too much and Pitt tore his Achilles tendon while playing Achilles in a fight scene, both requiring casts and crutches, perhaps the ancients aren't so happy with the casting. Or perhaps they just misinterpreted that modern word 'cast' :-)

Your right xxx, there might be something behind what you say. Russell Crowe also dislocated his shoulder (which eventually required surgery) while filming Gladiator. Hmmmm, very interesting (she says jokingly). I know Pitt's injury stopped shooting for I think 6 weeks or so. They were to finish in October of last year and they ended up finishing near the end of December. With Farrell, he was in the hospital for one day and came back with a removable cast on and did the horse vs. elephant scene (which looks fabulous). But they were at the end of the shoot anyway. Otherwise I think Oliver Stone would have killed him!! At least Pitt injured himself on the set, Farrell should have made the excuse that he fell off of his horse or injured himself, charging into battle. It definetely sounds better than, I fell down the stairs because I was inebriated. I just roll my eyes and shake my head at some of his antics. I don't condone them thats for sure.I guess you could say that Alexander the Great as played by Colin the Klutz.Dara

Still - Farrell falls down the stairs when he's drunk. Alexander burned cities and slew his friends...;-)All the bestMarcus
