Does anyone have access to a copy of the Malay Annals - either in Malay or English? I think it is available in the library of SOAS in London, for anyone who has access there. It contains legends of the royal family of Malaya, showing their descent from Alexander and a daughter of an Indian king.
There is a reference to the story of their descent from Alexander in the news today, at location

He cannot get access to the pothos forum due to browser problems, which is why he is not on it now, but he says that he misses it.Susan

Re: Alexander and the Malay Annals
well that was certainly very interesting! Not that I believe it...the Alexander connection, I mean.
How can they prove this? (I doubt it.)

Re: Alexander and the Malay Annals
That's nothing. Over the years I have been contacted by no less than three people claiming to be the *current* reincarnation of Alexander. His spirit must be strong.Thomas
Re: Alexander and the Malay Annals
You mean there are others...?Susan - I can use SOAS library as a reference user, because I work in a UK university. However, I won't be in London for a month or so, so I don't know how urgent your need is, and I would have to check if I can photocopy stuff.

Hehehe. Maybe that was his strong spirit talking through their bodies, having overtaken their pathetically weak wills.John

Re: Alexander and the Malay Annals
Susan - forgive my not replying before to your
posting, but I've been busy with the backlog of
work after leave, and I've only just got down this
far in the forum - I've been looking at the SOAS
library catalogue, and they appear a copy of the
Malay Annals for loan (rather than reference) - it
is "John Leyden's Malay annals / with an
introductory essay by Virginia Matheson Hooker
and M. B. Hooker". ( the library catalogue is on
line at http://195.195.181.2/search)... When I
was an impoverished student, my local library
was marvellous at getting obscure books from
the University libraries for me, but I guess your
library may not be so kindly! If you let me know if the above is of interest, I
can obtain it on interlibrary loan (I work in one of
the London University colleges) ... do email me!yours, wmp
