This too is helpful, but if Makednos was a son of Zeus, how can he also be a son of Herekles, or he Makednon really a son of Zeus through Herekles according to Hesiod? Thanks Jim

HERACLES was suppose the be the ancestor of the DORIAN PEOPLE.Both Spartans and Macedonians claimed their Royal Houses were decendent from HERACLES. The Mythology aspect here is not the point however.The fact was that in 720 BC HESOID was aware of a Greek peoples living around Mt Olympus ( MACEDONIAN) who called themselves MAKEDONI
