Thanks Dean - I think the opulent (and Persian) marriage ceremony surely indicates that Stateira was meant to be the "Queen" and that any son by her would have inherited the Persian part of Alexander's empire.Tre's comments below about the question of whether Barsine was actually married to Alexander are very interesting though. I'm trying to decide if I have the guts to write to Maria Brosius and ask her why she calls it a marriage. Spring break is approaching and the professors have more time to answer email, so I may give it a shot and then bring this subject up again. . . . if everyone isn't totally bored by it at that point, that is. :-)Best regards,Amyntoros
