Do you know anything about the fire that occurred in the library recently? In which rooms? I recall seeing something about it on the news not very long ago. Do you happen to know of any destruction?

Hi Jan,The fire occurred early-ish last year, before the library opened in October. It didn't destroy any books, or anything, because there weren't any in there at the time... but it did cause a little bit of structural damage which they had to put right. It didn't really hold up the completion of the building.The library is a fabulous piece of engineering, and the inside is beautiful. Loads of symbolism all around - one wall is designed to look as if it's filled with the holes where scrolls were stored in the original library, and all the pillars have spreading lotus leaves at the top. And all around the outside of the building are the alphabets of 120-odd different languages (although, as they are random letters, I'm not sure how they are supposed to distinguish between, say, English and French).All the bestMarcus
