Any particular relevent/interesting Alexander related sites in Afghanistan worth visiting? I ask as I am based here and there is nothing else to do in my spare time.

Re: Afghanistan
Hello Paul,Herat and Kandahar are the only two cities that still exist in Afghanistan that Alexander started there are gold treasures that still exist, unless you have a real good connection you won't be able to see them and most of all other Greek artifacts were damaged and destroyed during previous wars.

Hi Paul Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting your question. There are a lot of interesting Alexander-related sites to see - apart from Herat & Mazar-i-Sharif which are the obvious ones. I have a map from 1838 showing Afghanistan as it was then, plus several books speculating on Alexander's travels in the region - for instance Aurel Stein, Peter Levi, Arnold Toynbee. I have sent you an email with some ideas.RegardsSusan

Re: Afghanistan
It's not possible to send any info to a hotmail email address, it's a cheap freebee (virtually unusable) unless you pay for the extra storage space ($19.99), being in the military especially in a war zone there will be limits.
