I feel I need to touch on this yet again. I just learned that my daughters class is still studying ancient Greece. They are now learning about Greece's Golden Age. They have also studied Sparta and learned how their civilization was different from the other Greek cities. My daughter is finding Sparta very exciting to learn about. I had her watch a history chanel special on Sparta, that came out after 300, and she really enjoyed it. They are spending a bit more time on Greece than I originally thought and I'm thrilled about it. The next thing they'll be learning is ancient Roman history which is exciting as well. I know my kid is one of the few if not only one in her class that is interested in these things from what she tells me. I'm glad it's being taught, yet cringe at the thought that most of these kids aren't taking it in.
