What made Alexander the great so great? HELP!

Post by sarahwarah »

Hi,

I am doing a presentation at work on a motivational and insperational leader. I have chose Alexander the Great. I have lots of brilliant stuff to include about everything he achieved and conquered, but what i need to know is HOW he achieved this??? What made him so successful? Why did his men believe in him and his vision?? Any example of speeches he made or things he did to actually lead and motivate his army would be brilliant.

I look forward to your help!

Thanks

Sarah

He had a great strategic mind, but he also took risks, and he won. He knew the strenghts of his army and the weaknesses of his enemy. And he was stubborn. He was on the front line in battle, and that made his men follow him.

I suppose that Alexander was Alexander the Great for a variety of reasons. Perhaps first and foremost was his tactical range. But you can't take any one thing out of context and call it great. He was a package deal. His tactics would have been useless without the vision to make it happen.
