To be honest I wasn't impresed by those places in matter of buying souvenirs. all the same stuff as in rest of greek shops. For example I bought beautifull medalion of Alex (with the macedonian sun on the reverse) in ordinarly shop with souvenirs in Halkidiki. Such medalion I couldn't find in Vergina and Thessaloniki. Well maybe I hadn't enough time there. Regards

MaciekA good medallion with Alexanders head on the one side and the vergina star on the rear is the old 100 drachma coin. For non-commercialized/ non-souvenir items you can find in all the jewellery shops of Thessaloniki. Alexander is their favourite theme. you can find presse-papiers, medallions ecc.Regards

Well I suppose the reason I didn't saw so many of interesting souvenirs (this medalion is quite large and very nice made) was that I was there after greatest touristic period. Everywhere were bursts of Alex but very poor quality. Imagine that I wanted to buy something (anything) with macedonian sun and all I found was some small plates or some key additions. Well I wanted something enough large to put it in my wall. But I belive that in the middle of summer it have to be much more interesting souvenirs there.Regards

My guess is that after the two blockbuster movies come out, we will be inundated with merchandise (ie, T-shirts, posters...etc). GA Hauser

No doubt! Alexander action figures with special decapitation action!? I have already seen an 'Alexander sword' available on a website called battle.orders. They do provide arms & armour to films and I think at least one of the ATG movies in production have approached them!I bought a replica 'maximus' sword from the 'Gladiator' movie from them in the past- it acts as a useful deterrant to people dumping rubbish in my garden!Kit
