First scene of the Bagoas side
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alexander
-- Ten years from now, Babylon'll be the center of the world, Bagoas. From here we'll send our fleet to every land on earth! Cities will grow, races will mix and travel, new gods will emerge.
(pause, reflective)
-- and there'll be harmony in the world... And we'll grow old together, Bagoas-- looking out on this world.
Alexander turns from the window, and in his face, we see all the sorrow in the world, knowing his future is short. Alexander
... but I must sleep first--
It breaks Bagoas' heart to see this. Cold is the grave of every mythic hero.
Alexander
My poor Bagoas-- always thinking of me. How vain I've been! Bagoas
(choosing words carefully)
Alexander-- you have given me the happiest times of my life. I owe you everything.
Alexander strokes his cheek gently, wipes away the tears. Alexander
'Happy', Bagoas? To achieve your longing, yes, but when your mind and body are stretched to breaking, when you have no thought beyond the next moment, that's when-- you look back after-- and there it was-- happiness! In the doing, never the thinking.
He fades back onto the pillow, sweating with pain. Bagoas notices how streaked with silver Alexander's once-golden hair has become. Bagoas
(repeats)
... Still, you've made me very happy, Al'skander.
Alexander reflects on this, and takes some peace in this accomplishment. A moment of harmony-- Alexander
(relieved)
--It's done, Bagoas... it's done--
He drifts off. Second scene of the Bagoas side

This brings serious good cheer to the COMPANIONS, who clearly have never seen anything as exotic as these women in Greece. Cassander
-- as long as we share not the one I like, Alexander.
He need not worry-- Alexander's eyes have fallen on a lustrous, black-haired boy, 17, BAGOAS, with the slim figure of a dancer, his beauty extraordinary-- yet he is eunuch, considered more like a rare third species. Alexander
I think you'll manage quite well without me, Cassander. You always have.
The Companions laugh and individually address the women as Alexander walks over to the Youth, who looks him modestly in the eye, uncowed... HEPHAISTION takes notice as the FATTEST EUNUCH of all slides over, happy to please. Fat Eunuch

Fat Eunuch
Bagoas, 'Great King' -- Darius' boy... Alexander (pronouncing it)
Ba--go--as? Fat Eunuch (nods)
-- nicely gelded, he was the Emperor's favorite-- yes, holds his weight well with the years-- Alexander (eyes on the boy)
Where does he come from? Bagoas (modestly, in Greek)
The North, sire. From the hills near Susa. Alexander (surprised)
You speak our language? Good-- I'd like to learn yours. Bagoas
It's learnable, my lord. Alexander
Tell me then-- do you wish to be set free? To go back to your homeland?
In a slice of eternity, Bagoas knows what's at stake. Bagoas (choosing)
All my family is long dead, 'Great King'. With your permission-- I choose to serve here. Alexander (smiles)
I would like that very much....
(turns)
Perdiccas, ask the same of each person in the Harem-- woman and eunuch. Third scene of the Bagoas side
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alexander
Stay with me tonight, Hephaistion--?
Alexander's eyes are filled with need; Hephaistion glances questioningly at Bagoas. Alexander
I'll take my own bath tonight-- thank you, Bagoas. Bagoas
Yes, 'Great King'.
Triangular are the eyes, as the Boy withdraws. Alexander leads Hephaistion out onto the balcony.
I love the last two scenes but the first one..."We'll grow old together!?!Give me a break...I get really angry when Hephaistion's place is forgoten. What do you guys think?Lane

Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
Much of the first scene you've posted comes from Renault. I thought it was rather silly in Renault and I don't think it predicts a good script for the film. Susan
Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
I am wondering at who is the scriptwriter, and why must we have the finger-cheek scene. If only he had said, " Your skin is so soft..." too. Sounds like copyright laws are being violated to me.This scene sounds very similar to a real life experience, and it is dubious to me that any fan of Alexander will enjoy it at all.But then, who knows, different stroke for different folks, eh?
Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
It reads like one of those sloppy afternoon soap operas. Then there is this:Bagoas (modestly, in Greek) The North, sire. From the hills near Susa.
Alexander (surprised) You speak our language? Good-- I'd like to learn yours. ROTFLMMAO!Someone sould have read Q.C.R. re "OUR LANGUAGE."

Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
I find it very dissapointing that this garbage would make into the film! I love Renault, but there is no reason to fictionalize this film in this way. Why can't Hollywood get it right? It's a great story the way it actually happened! There's just no need to muck it up like this. With all the silly folk tales swirling about ATG, this will only suffice to further cloud the picture of what he really was and did. It doesn't add anything to the story, the legend, or the movie...it's just crappy sappy garbage! I'm very dissapointed...very dissapointed indeed! Not to mention, starting with Guagamela, and leapgrogging everything up to that point...what a total copout! Why bother...I guess it's all about the money, that's all it's ever about, how pathetic, cheap, and base...uugggghhhhh!!!!

Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
Of course, we're also talking about the movie that has the reason Alexander goes to conquer Persia is because Darius had Philip killed. Yeah. Okay.Has Stone read ANY history books for ANY of his films? Apparently not. Its like Disney telling his script writers, "don't read Kipling, we're not doing THAT Jungle Book." Duh....Wolfie
Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
It starts with Gaugamela? Am I smelling a prequel or what? (depending on the box success, of course)Alejandro
Re: Bagoas audition sides!Part 2
No doubt that's been the plan from day one. That's the way they do it in Hollywood these days...hook em' with glitz and grandeur, book em' for the rest of the story later...this is as much a failing of the moviegoing public as with Hollywood. I think I'm going to remove the story of Bagoas from my book now...it's just too over-rated to even belong in any historical account. Let the movie have it, I'm steering clear of the stupidity.Have a nice day,Nicator
